| Like the legendary cigar master Ramón Cifuentes, the Partagas smoker knows what he wants: a cigar that always delivers the richest taste yet never comes on too strong. In keeping with that ideal, every Partagas is an invitation to savor the artistry it takes to bring you this cigar, from the richest of Cuban traditions to the richest of Cameroon wrappers. |

The secret of today's rich Partagas cigars lies in their wrapper leaves. Grown in Cameroon, the Central West African country where the steaming, sub-tropical climate unique to the fourth parallel is ideal for growing superb wrapper leaves, Cameroon wrappers have no equals for rich flavor. Indeed, Ramón Cifuentes determined that he could begin producing his Partagas cigars again only after he had discovered, years after the Cuban embargo had begun, that the best wrapper leaves were being grown in Cameroon rather than in Cuba. So rich yet never harsh, a Partagas cigar has all the flavor and character of the cigar that knew Cuba when.

In order to create Partagas Black Label, Daniel Nuñez and his colleagues spent 10 years perfecting the Medio Tempo wrapper and the La Vega Especial binder. Cuban-seed Medio Tempo wrappers are darker, heavier and richer than other wrappers because they are harvested only after they have been allowed to age on their plants 50% longer than other wrapper leaves. The La Vega Especial binder is sun-grown in the Dominican Republic to give it a deep, rich flavor of its own. To enhance the cigar's full-bodied character even further, the blend is a mixture of Nicaraguan Ligero and Dominican Piloto Cubano Ligero. These tobaccos and a larger ring gauge translate into a richer, fuller-bodied flavor. Partagas Black Label is an espresso of a cigar, extremely dark in color and extra rich in flavor.

For the blend, only one of every hundred of the longest, finest filler leaves grown in the Dominican Republic and the St. Andrés Tuxtla Valley of Mexico are selected and aged in numbered lots. For the wrappers, only an average of three in a thousand of the richest Cameroon wrapper leaves are selected from the Partagas reserves. The tobaccos and ultimately the cigars then undergo the most prolonged aging processes in rooms built of Spanish cedar. Carefully monitored after regular intervals, only those cigars that mature most gradually are deemed worthy of the Partagas Limited Reserve name. From the month and year the cigars are placed in cedar-room storage to the earliest release date for the packed cigars, the details of the aging process are duly recorded by hand on a notice of certification contained in each handcrafted mahogany box.
